Fun Things to Do for Halloween
With two children, my wife and I are always trying to think of new things to do for Halloween each year. We have found that there are many ways to spend the day and evening, and our kids always look forward to it because they know they are going to have a good time.
The first idea for Halloween, obviously, is to go trick or treating. Every year, we figure out how to incorporate this into our Halloween festivity, because let’s face it, it would not be Halloween without trick or treating.
We always make sure they stay in our neighborhood, or if they do venture out into other neighborhoods, they stick together and a parent follows them in their car.
There are also those occasions that we take the kids to the mall, because a lot of time the mall stores will hand out candy on Halloween.
Another thing for Halloween that we often find ourselves doing is having a party. This is almost always a good idea, because there are so many things to do and almost everyone wants to be a part of a Halloween party.
Whenever we host the party, we always make sure to have a costume contest and plenty of treats for the kids. We have music playing and everyone has a great time!
One thing we tried two years ago for Halloween was to have a haunted house. This was one the kids had been asking for since they were in kindergarten. My wife and I held off because we did not think they were quite ready for it yet, but eventually we gave in.
It was really fun, and we got a lot of people involved. Everyone in the neighborhood was talking about how great it was, and fortunately, other people offered to host one on different years so that it took some of the burden off us.
I personally have always liked the fact that our children’s school tries to do something for Halloween in the way of a carnival. This provides a lot of fun options for the kids, and it raises money for the school at the same time. Plus, it allows the students the opportunity to show off their costumes to their fellow students and marvel at how all of their classmates look.
There are a lot of things that can be done for Halloween, and most of them are not very expensive. It always helps when you have kids that you can get involved, but even if you don’t, take that opportunity to stay home, buy a big bowl of candy to hand out to trick or treaters, and watch scary movies. It is meant to be a fun day!
